About D.C. Ugochukwu

Dozie Celeste Ugochukwu is seasoned jurist and international consultant with extensive expertise on immigration law, Diaspora engagement, migration and development and African Business and Investment. He serves as Director and Co-founder of the African Diaspora Council of Switzerland (ADCS) where he leads strategic initiatives to strengthen Human Rights as well as Diaspora contributions to development and cross continental collaboration.

 

His work is informed by both legal insight and a deep commitment to social impact. He is a recognized member of the UN Network on Migration and the Diaspora Expert Support Pool of the African Union, where he contributes his knowledge to global, regional and national policy dialogues on migration governance and Diaspora affairs.

 

Mr Ugochukwu studied Philosophy and Sociology at Ibadan, Nigeria before proceeding to Europe for further studies. After bagging a diploma in French language in Toulouse, France, he went to Fribourg in Switzerland where he obtained another language certificate in German language and a Law License in Swiss and European Union law in French and German languages from the University of Fribourg.

 

He was a member of the Swiss Federal Commission against Racism (2012-2023), was also candidate at the Swiss National Parliament elections in 2011. He is the Founder and executive director of African Foundation for Migration and Development as well as Nigeria Business Forum in Switzerland, a platform for training, sensitization and mobilization of Nigerian and African Business and Investment. He is also a former President of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization, Nido Swiss, an umbrella organization of all Nigerians living in Switzerland and in Lichtenstein. During his studies at the University of Fribourg, he was the director of African students and a member of the board of European Law Students Association (ELSA).

 

Mr Ugochukwu speaks and writes fluent Igbo, English, French, German, Spanish as well as other Nigerian languages.
